Issues with Netgear Routers and Slow Speeds

Many users are complaining of slow speeds and issues with their internet connection, downloading updates, viewing Flash/YouTube Videos, etc. The common problem has been that they have a Netgear Router. We have found the following solution fixes the problem.

1. Log in to the routers administration page through your web browser, by default the page should be located at http://192.168.1.1 and the username and password are admin/password.
2. On the left menu under "Advanced" click the "WAN Setup" link.
3. In the content area of the page under "WAN Setup" there should be a checkbox labeled "Disable SPI Firewall". Check that box and click the apply button.
4. Important: After the router finishes its update, be sure that you force all of your devices to reregister by rebooting! Failure to do so can complicate matters further.

Additionally, if you are an Elk Creek Customer, please follow the instructions HERE to setup DHCP on your computer or wireless router.
